Together, we meet monthly in small groups via Zoom to:

Explore a captivating book paired with a delicious, custom blend tea.

Learn about the featured tea, its history, creation, and connection to the book.

Facilitate meaningful conversation, human connection, and shared learning centered around the featured book.

Hear from a special guest – perhaps an artist, academic, or global visitor – to bring a unique perspective to the conversation.

Support local business – all Books + CommuniTea kits are sourced from local, small businesses.

Join our CommuniTea! We’d love to have you.

“I’ve spent a lot of time on Zoom and this is one of the best sessions I’ve had. It was incredibly moving. I’m very much looking forward to sharing the next several months with this group.”

Tales of joy from marginalized voices

In partnership with Friday Tea
Last year, we traveled the globe in our “Around the World” series and embraced essential stories in the sessions that followed: “Radical, Cultural, Historical, and Fantastical Voices of Women of Color”. This year, our 2022 line-up features “Tales of Joy from Marginalized Voices”.

Let’s meet in community to have meaningful conversation, in the company of great characters and their adventures, and share in warm cups of tea that evoke their settings. Books + CommuniTea is curated by me and paired with teas by Friday.

Around the World: the original series

Books + CommuniTea was created to offer community and a comforting place to gather, without fear from COVID, when the pandemic closed down the world. Grateful thanks to Friday, owner of Friday Tea, who piloted the tea-book club concept with me!

The original tea-book series was Around the World, which featured stories and genres set in a different continent each month. We started in Palestine and Israel with The Lemon Tree and olive leaf tea. Then onward to China with Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and a gorgeous green tea. Next, we traveled to Mexico with Mexican Gothic, paired with an earthy, golden mushroom tea. Then to Uganda in A Girl is a Body of Water and a beautiful rooibos rose blend. We stopped in Sweden with a Man Called Ove, paired with a lemongrass verbena, and then came back home to North America, specifically, Kentucky with The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek.

We continue to gather every month from across the country in our dedicated Zoom room – to share in literary adventures, gorgeous teas paired with our books, diverse ideas, and laugh out loud conversations. We have truly built a thoughtful, joyful, and supportive community.

“This was a balm to a sore and un-hugged heart.”
